Huawei Training Center at AFRALTI Aims to Bridge ICT Skills Gap in Africa
ICT skills and capacity deficits remain a major challenge facing African countries in their quest for sustainable development.
AFRALTI’s footprint in the African region has seen it strive to narrow the skills gap in the continent by building capacity among ICT practitioners. As this cannot be achieved alone, AFRALTI has over the years partnered with Huawei to develop ICT skills across various levels.
The Huawei Training Center housed at the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) in Nairobi aims to provide certified theory and practical learning and therefore facilitate a steady flow of talented ICT human resources for Africa.
The training Center which serves 28 countries in the East, Central and Southern African region, seeks to expose students to a wide array of the latest innovative equipment in mobile networks, fiber networks, energy solutions and other integrated telecommunications infrastructure.
The target groups include university students, telecommunications operators, government ICT officers, network contractors and industry partners on the latest global trends in the application of modern tech across all sectors.
The aim is to train skilled but uncertified young technicians with a view to unlocking the ICT skill gap. The training center is equipped with the following:
- 15 Meters Triangular Tower (GU900+U2100+GL1800+L800+5G)
- IVS (CCTV) Lamp Pole
- Module Pole
- Site Energy Cabinet
- FTTX Scenario (OLT, FDT, FAT, ATB, ONT)
