UNLOCKING KENYA’S DIGITAL FUTURE. SPECTRUM SHARING FOR NON PUBLIC NETWORKS (NPNS)

Kenya’s journey toward leveraging the power of spectrum sharing for Non-Public Networks (NPNs) took a significant step forward with the conclusion of a groundbreaking study supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Dynamic Spectrum Alliance (DSA) under the Digital Access Programme (DAP). Spearheaded by the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI), this study marked a critical milestone in evaluating opportunities to unlock underutilized spectrum for economic growth and digital inclusion. Read more


 

  AFRICA CYBER DEFENSE FORUM 2024: SHAPING AFRICA’S CYBERSECURITY LANDSCAPE

The 5th Annual Africa Cyber Defense Forum (ACDF), held from October 15th to 18th, 2024, in Kigali, Rwanda, reaffirmed its position as a vital platform for fostering collaboration between public and private sectors in cybersecurity. Against the backdrop of an increasingly interconnected and vulnerable digital world, the forum brought together a diverse assembly of stakeholders, including government officials, military and law enforcement leaders, technology experts, and business executives, to chart the course for Africa’s cyber defense strategies. Read more

BROADBAND AS A CATALYST FOR AFRICA’S DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION 

At the Africa Tech Festival 2024, AFRALTI Director and Africa Cyber Defense Forum (ACDF) Chairman, Mr. William Baraza, delivered an insightful address on the state of broadband in Africa. A MILESTONE IN EXCELLENCE: AFRALTI HONORED AS CISCO PREMIER+ ACADEMY SUPPORT CENTER 2023-2024

AFRALTI proudly celebrates its recognition as a CISCO Premier+ Academy Support Center for 2023-2024, awarded at the recently concluded Networking Academy Partner Conference 2024 in Dubai. This prestigious accolade underscores AFRALTI’s unwavering commitment to advancing technology education and empowering students and instructors across Africa through the Cisco Networking Academy program. Read more

 

AFRICA TELECOMMUNICATION UNION PARTNERS WITH AFRALTI IN BUILDING AFRICA’S SPACE FUTURE 

AFRALTI, in partnership with the African Telecommunications Union (ATU), successfully conducted a hybrid training program on the Key Steps in the Planning Process of a Satellite Network. This initiative, sponsored by ATU, brought together a diverse group of participants and demonstrated the power of collaboration in advancing Africa’s role in space governance and satellite communications.  Read more

 

SHAPING THE FUTURE OF CONNECTIVITY THROUGH COMMUNITY CENTERED CONNECTIVITY 

In a remarkable display of collaboration and vision, community networks from across Kenya gathered in Naivasha to chart the course for a National Strategy for Community Networks. The event was a convergence of ideas, passion, and action, spearheaded by AFRALTI and Tanda Community Network, with invaluable support from the Association for Progressive Communications (APC), Rhizomatica, and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).  Read more

 

EMPOWERING UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES THROUGH TECHNOLOGY 

AFRALTI celebrated the remarkable achievements of a talented group of young learners from Mathare and Korogocho, who recently completed a rigorous 3-week advanced Cisco Networking and IoT training program. This transformative initiative was delivered in partnership with Leapfrog and funded by Stiftung Nord-Süd-Brücken through the BMZ (Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung).  Read more
