AFRALTI EMPOWERS CISCO TRAINERS ON CCNA AND CYBEROPS
AFRALTI, as a Cisco Academy Support Centre, continues to strengthen ICT education by equipping trainers with the latest knowledge and skills in networking and cybersecurity. In a bid to enhance the capacity of instructors in Kenya and Ethiopia, AFRALTI successfully conducted a virtual Training of Trainers (ToT) on Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and CyberOps, complemented by hands-on lab sessions at AFRALTI. This initiative aimed to build a strong foundation for educators, ensuring they are well-prepared to train the next generation of networking and cybersecurity professionals.
The virtual training covered fundamental to advanced networking concepts in CCNA, providing trainers with a deep understanding of network architecture, routing and switching, IP connectivity, security fundamentals, automation, and programmability. As networking technologies continue to evolve, mastering CCNA ensures that trainers can impart essential skills to students, preparing them for the dynamic world of IT infrastructure and connectivity. In addition to CCNA, the training focused on CyberOps, a critical area in today’s cybersecurity landscape. Trainers were introduced to cybersecurity principles, network defense techniques, security monitoring, and incident response, equipping them with the expertise needed to train students in tackling modern cyber threats.
While the theoretical components were delivered virtually, AFRALTI facilitated in-person lab sessions at its training centre to provide trainers with practical, hands-on experience. These lab sessions allowed participants to interact with real networking equipment and security tools, reinforcing their learning through practical application. By working with Cisco’s industry-standard technologies, trainers were able to simulate real-world scenarios, troubleshooting network issues and responding to cybersecurity incidents in a controlled environment.
By investing in the training of trainers, AFRALTI is enhancing the quality of ICT education across Kenya and Ethiopia. Well-trained instructors are key to developing skilled professionals who can meet the demands of today’s technology-driven job market. The success of this program not only strengthens Cisco Networking Academy’s reach in the region but also contributes to bridging the digital skills gap, improving cybersecurity resilience, and fostering digital transformation in Africa.
