THE AFRALTI GOVERNING COUNCIL MEETS IN KENYA
The 65th Governing Council meeting of the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) took place from 13th to 17th March 2023 at the Ciala Resort in Kisumu, Kenya.
The Republic of Kenya being the host took over the Chair of the Governing Council of AFRALTI for the year and was represented by the Communications Authority of Kenya. This saw the Authority’s Director General, Mr. Ezra Chiloba officially open the meeting.
Other members of AFRALTI present at the meeting included, Eswatini, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Observers represented were the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) and Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).
From being an observer in the previous years, Gambia Telecommunications & Multimedia Institute (GTMI) became a full member of AFRALTI on the 15th March 2023 representing the Republic of The Gambia. By becoming a member, GTMI shall position itself as an AFRALTI training hub in the West Africa region.
The meeting discussed pertinent strategic matters relating to the core of AFRALTI which are capacity building, consultancy and research were preceded by the various committee meetings.
